Purple Wall

Walking through the backs of business on the north side of Cranford and for some reason, a bunch of them are painted these wacky colors. On my website is another one that is chartreuse. There is a deep purple store, but this one is a neat shade of lavender.

Whippany Train Station

The Whippany NJ Train station is a train station that is now unused with regular service. The line that used to serve the station was closed a long time ago. But the train station is now a railroad museum with a dozen or two cars, exhibits, etc. I think they also have some steam engine rides from time to time. This is a photo of the train station taken on digital and converted to black and white. I did a bunch of smoothing and massaging to emulate fine-grained film with a little glow, as I remember it.

Shadows and Sunbeams

Walking in the financial/tourist district of Boston, right around Milk St, there are lots of narrow buildings. I was in Boston at the Omni Parker House a few weekends ago walking around in the morning and the sun started coming and going in between the buildings. I waited at one street until the last little bit of light peeked around the building and took several photos and this was the best. I had to clean up some stuff on top with Ps generative fill, but otherwise it was just a straight high contrast black and white conversion

Reflections in Stripes

At the Rumson country club, where we recently attended a wedding. It had just rained pretty hard and as you walked up the stairs to go into the wedding venue, the floor was made of a decking material. The decking had cupped, as they usually do, and the water was pooling in the cupped deck planks. This guy, probably one of the band members, walked outside to grab a smoke and I snapped this with my iPhone. Of course, it was upside down, so I flipped it both Horizontally and Vertically so he would be looking left-to-right and right side

Urban Minimalism

Minimalistic images. Most minimalistic images that I see in the magazines or websites are more often than not of nature scenes, long docks out on the water, lone trees, a single subject on a long exposure of water or similar shots. Those don’t present themselves to me much because I don’t go to such places with the limited time that a working life affords me. So I wonder around urban scenes, the backs of storefronts, etc. If I look long enough, lots of scenes present themselves like the two below. The left on was on the back of a store

Yellow Window & Detritis

Boston MA. Just a random scene in the main tourist area near the Omni Parker House hotel in downtown Boston. I loved the Yellow echos of the window, the pole, and whatever that is on the left. Also love the blue and green items, otherwise it would have been too monochromatic. I had mixed results from feedback on this image from Instagram, but I think people just get tired of seeing these sorts of urban disorganization photos. iPhone 14Pro

Diagonal & Square

I’ve started to find more and more of these scenes where there is a rectangular aspect and a diagonal aspect to scene. Yes, most of them are man-made, but I still like them. The dichotomy of the two angles creates tension, in my opinion. It’s somewhat ordinary, but I’ll be hunting for mor of these in the future. This image was taken of the back of a building in Morris Plains, NJ, which is a sleepy suburban NJ town about 30 miles west of New York City. Of course, I used my favorite Olympus E-M1 mk 2 with the ultra-versatile

Chartreuse Wall & Window

Is this a Photoshopped wall? No. Absolution not. Just another super colorful wall in Cranford, NJ. I wonder why someone would paint the back wall of a business this color? The front DOES NOT have this color; only the back does. And it’s at the end of a dead-end alley. It’s not like someone would see the wall. It’s very odd Hot, Hot July, 2023

Abstract – What is it?

I shot this photo in Boston with my iPhone and it really struck me as very cool. I posted the photo and a local group and asked people what it was. Nobody really knew, as it’s completely out of context. See if you can figure out what it is before I put the answer and a contextual shot below This is the place where the shot was taken……….I didn’t include the actual object. Can you guess now? The Photo is of a metal, concrete-filled guard post like the one on the left of the photo. The post that was the

Infrared Bridge

This is the companion to the previous pink image of the fisherman. I said there was a nice bridge, and here it is, but in a more “normal” yellow foliage, yet still infrared. I also masked out the bridge and ground and desaturated it so it looks more natural.
