Table shadows with lonely leaves

So you’re waiting for a restaurant in Rittenhouse square in Philadelphia….that has a too-long-a-wait. What do you do? Walk around and find a few photos. It was fall in November in Philly and the sun was low. There were shadows of these pedestal tables on the stone patio and I found some random leaves that had blown in. The leaves were NOT placed there, but they just as easily could have been. Nothing spectactular, but interesting none-the-less. Olympus E-M1 Mk 2 12-40/2.8

Shadows and Sunbeams

Walking in the financial/tourist district of Boston, right around Milk St, there are lots of narrow buildings. I was in Boston at the Omni Parker House a few weekends ago walking around in the morning and the sun started coming and going in between the buildings. I waited at one street until the last little bit of light peeked around the building and took several photos and this was the best. I had to clean up some stuff on top with Ps generative fill, but otherwise it was just a straight high contrast black and white conversion

Shadows in Hartford

I’ve always loved urban shadow photos, but recently attended a talk with David S Wells, a well-known photographer from Rhode Island and he discussed and illustrated many of his now-famous vintage photography of urban shadow work, mostly from Philadelphia. I was in Hartford, CT for the Hartford Marathon (viewing, not running) and needed a bit of a diversion as we waiting the very boring time for our daughter to finish.
