These two photos are from two different cities, but reflect the commonality of functional architectural details. I assume that these are HVAC vents and these two have very different walls, but similar functions. Just like I like windows and doors and standpipes, I’ll probably start hunting for interesting wall vents going forward.
The brown one is from Boston down by the financial district. The green one is from Summit, NJ, if I remember right.
