P I N H O L E – G A L L E R Y #1
We take photographs, us photographers, but rarely think of the simplicity of the act. What are we doing? Playing with gear? Capturing a fleeting moment?
Pinhole photographs are the most basic photos you can take. No lens, just a tiny hole and a box with film or paper to capture an image. The image builds up over a fraction of a second to many minutes. The passage of time is extended, blurred. Pinhole photographs show a land of everything in focus, yet not perfectly rendered. They show deviations in today’s world where perfection is valued. Not sharp, but not blurry.
This is my first Pinhole Gallery, and I’ll have more. The first is a smattering of photos taken over the past 3 years with various cameras, all commercial models.
