I’ve tried my hand at ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) for the past year or so and I see the attraction. If you work hard enough, you can get great images, especially when the subject is colorful. This image is probably my favorite of the one image ICM photos I took this year. I paused during the exposure a couple of times, so you see duplication of the fence at the beach

BUT….I saw people taking images with in-camera multiple exposure mid year and fell in love with the results. While I love the one-shot, pure ICM images, I longed for more. Many people have cameras that provide in-camera ME with different blend modes. . . . . But I wanted more control. So I started to take multiple images of a subject with various ICM movement directions, exposure durations and techniques and combine them in Photoshop with whatever blend mode best suits each image. This offers MUCH more flexibility and allows me to get exactly what I want.
I may take 3, 5, ,or 20 images of a single subject before evaluating them for a ME ICM.

This may be one of my favorites, although it’s VERY understated. I love the subtlety and beauty of this image. It’s a double image of the Boston skyline from The Public Garden, but you’d never know it. I think it looks like a green ocean with mist and uplifting pillars of light behind.

I love the colors here, especially the street walk sign reds and the hand in the middle of the frame.

A street scene of a sunlit wooden bench on Bowdin St in Boston. The benches that in the outside seating area can really glow if lit like this and the ICM ME really set them off.
