Pinhole into the Sun

Had the 6×6 Cube pinhole from Chroma.Camera out and tried a few photos with Fomapan 100. Not 100% happy with what I got, but it was interesting. I think the pinhole isn’t right and I got a lot of light leaks around the back window. I think I am the victim of a Mk 1 product and I sent the camera and it’s 35mm Cube camera back to Steve at Chroma to get them both replaced. Got these two, which were OK, the first one is better.

5 Frames with a Nikon F3

Bought a Nikon F3 a few months ago from Goodwill in Wisconsin for $300 total shipped. It looked nice, but I was unexpected for HOW nice. It was in a nice brown ever-ready case that had probably been on the camera since new. The only rubs were next to the strap lugs, otherwise it was pristine. No service, No cleaning. It’s is a great camera and I LOVE the HighPoint finder as it’s the only film SLR that I’ve ever owned that I can see the whole finder. I loaded it up with a roll of bulk-rolled Kodak 5222 Double-XX

Pinhole @ the Beach

Went to the beach in September and only took one camera aside from my phone, my little Chroma.Camera 35mm film pinhole camera. I’ve had mediocre results with this camera, but maybe I need to think differently about it. I took it down to the water in Sea Girt, NJ where the ocean shore has nice scenics. I focused on abstract, simple images like these, where I only took photos of the water and the surf. I decided to use Ilford Pan F+ film, which I hoped would help with fine detail. This is the result, at least the first of

What I do and why. . . . .Oh, and one more Infrared of the Hay Field

So i thought that I was finished with the photos of the hay field, but this one was sitting in my “To Post” pile and I just had to put it up. I know almost no one reads this BLOG, but I still use it to post the images that I feel are my favorites and show my growth in photography. 2023 has been a good year for me for photos and I’m really, really pleased at what I’ve done. There’s nothing that’s going to win a national photo contest, but I don’t shoot stuff that would win those awards

3 Mops

Nothing stupendous, but I see a lot of neat photos of brooms or mops behind local, small town businesses. They’re often nicely colored and offer great contrasts between brick work and tool. These with yellow heads were especially notable to me. Olympus E-M1.2 with the 12-40/2.8

Purple Railing

Again in GA, a couple of neat shots of a lilac purple railing aside a random building. The first one had a little glow added, as I loved the glowing purple against the reddish wall. The second photo is not the same railing, but it’s on the same building. Shot from overhead at an awkward angle, I like it more the look at it.

FDC in GA

I’ve started to find beauty, color, and form in the thousands of FDCs (Fire Department Connection) that are on the side of commercial buildings for fire departments to power building sprinklers in a fire. They are interesting, they are often colorful. I’ve even got a Gallery Page I’ve started where I’m going to start assembling them. But these two in Covington, GA were especially nice.

Steps and a Window

These three were all in Covington, GA, but not all at the same place. The steps’ images are both of the same building, but the other one is different. I loved the light on these reddish steps and was lucky to be there at that time. Really nice, IMO. The other image turned out better than I expected, as the light was pretty mediocre. The window was very dirty, like the building has been vacant for many years. The paper is behind the window. I had to straighten in up and remove my legs from the fuzzy reflection and brighten

Hang Tag

I think I’m in love with this image. I know it’s just a mundane photo of a commercial electrical box’s security tag. But it’s sharp with a great shallow DOF. The B&W tones are wonderful. The lighting is nice. The background nicely dark. The stupid tag was blowing around in the wind and I’m actually surprised it was as sharp as it was. Taken on digital with my E-M1.2 with the always stellar 12-40/2.8 wide open. I also took this one about 2 feet from the black-and-white photo. It’s nice, but the background is pretty messy and I don’t like
