Yale Bricks & Railing

Walking around Yale University for the New Haven Road Race I happened upon this little stairway down to a basement on a random Yale building. It was a little dull, but I bumped up the saturation a little to bring out the colors, especially the green splotches, which are probably algae. This is, as usual, taken with my Olympus E-M1 mk2 with the superb 12-40/2.8 lens. This is really a fabulous lens that is so very versatile. Colored Vents

These two photos are from two different cities, but reflect the commonality of functional architectural details. I assume that these are HVAC vents and these two have very different walls, but similar functions. Just like I like windows and doors and standpipes, I’ll probably start hunting for interesting wall vents going forward. The brown one is from Boston down by the financial district. The green one is from Summit, NJ, if I remember right.

Whippany Train Station

The Whippany NJ Train station is a train station that is now unused with regular service. The line that used to serve the station was closed a long time ago. But the train station is now a railroad museum with a dozen or two cars, exhibits, etc. I think they also have some steam engine rides from time to time. This is a photo of the train station taken on digital and converted to black and white. I did a bunch of smoothing and massaging to emulate fine-grained film with a little glow, as I remember it.

Shadows and Sunbeams

Walking in the financial/tourist district of Boston, right around Milk St, there are lots of narrow buildings. I was in Boston at the Omni Parker House a few weekends ago walking around in the morning and the sun started coming and going in between the buildings. I waited at one street until the last little bit of light peeked around the building and took several photos and this was the best. I had to clean up some stuff on top with Ps generative fill, but otherwise it was just a straight high contrast black and white conversion
